Does Snide Sell?
Posted in: good [ news ]
Anybody have an opinion on this article from AdAge? I agree with a couple of things he mentions but I think the author is really stretching when he talks about the massive impact advertising has on the culture. Thoughts?

Viva la Semicolon;)
Posted in: good [ news ]
Attacked as “transvestite hermaphrodites” by none other than Kurt Vonnegut, semicolons have long been an annoyance to casual writers while falling out of favor among professionals. Proper use of semicolons is apparently so rare that correct usage in a NYC transit ad now warrants coverage in the New York Times.

Sorry, I had to think of a semi-ironic title for this post where I detail my recent trip to El Paso (the red-headed step-child of) Texas. I actually did get a T-shirt though. Aside from the weather being unseasonably cold and my flight to El Paso (El Chuco) being delayed it was not entirely a bad trip. Before I talk about the pro’s and con’s of the advertising in El Paso, I would like to further reiterate that I think Reno has some of the best advertising around and when you add to it that we are not a huge market and our local AAF chapter annually produces over 450 entries for the ADDYS, Reno’s ad scene becomes more impressive. I have judged ADDY’s in San Jose and now El Paso, both cities exceeding 1.5 million people and I think Reno could run on these guys any day of the week, bottom line: greater population does not positively affect creative excellence.Read More Read More | Comments

Radiohead’s Rainydayz Remix
Posted in: good [ work ]
If you thought that the new album from Radiohead “In Rainbos” was great then you aint heard nothin yet. What’s that son? What am I trippin’ on? Well aside from using improper grammar a newer, but equally creative work has been created. Produced by Amplive, one half of Oakland based hip hop duo Zion I, the remixed version is composed exclusively from source material pulled from Radiohead’s latest album, In Rainbows. The album features collaborations with Too $hort, MC Zumbi of Zion I, Chali2na of Jurassic 5, Codany Holiday, and Del The Funky Homosapien. After initially receiving a cease & desist, an agreement has finally been reached satisfying all parties and the remixed album is now available to download…for free. What? Free? Thats right cous, because that is the way Radiohead would have wanted it. You can get your copy here.
