This morning, Tiffany, Jennifer, Kelly, Gina and I played tour guides to a group of of about 50 students and counselors from TeenEngage, a collaboration between University of Nevada journalism students, the Northern Nevada International Center, the U.S. Department of State, high school students in Algeria and a bunch of other organizations in northern Nevada. TeenEngage’s mission is to get kids from around the world to use social media
to make positive changes in their communities, and while the Algerian students are here, UNR professor Todd Felts has them developing several social media campaigns for area non-profits. We had a great time taking them around the office, showing our work and taking a look at some of the stuff they’ve been doing for Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Food Bank of Northern Nevada and others. They’re a group of super smart and talented kids, and it looks like there will be more than a few Algerian social media superstars emerging in the next few years. Check out their facebook page to learn more about them and check out what they’ve been doing.
