After stinking up the Sparks municipal softball fields for the last two seasons, Team OGG (Original Glenn Gangstas for those of you not in the know) went into this summer’s kickball season with few expectations. But unlike softball, where we spent our seasons dwelling in the basement of the co-ed K league, we seem to have a knack for a game most of us haven’t played since we were 10. While that doesn’t say much about our maturity level it felt damn good to chalk up a 9-7 victory in the season opener against “Looking to Score.” Team OGG combined a surprising potent offense with solid defensive play, which included some spectacular catches that would be worthy of a highlight reel, if there was such a thing for rec league kickball. Catch Team OGG in action at Rancho San Rafael next Monday night at 7:30, where we’ll square off against the Kool Kids.
